CRIME is one of the biggest social ills in the country and with this drama, Mzansi Magic unpacks crime into a storyline.

Mzansi Magic recently announced the premiere date for the upcoming drama series titled Code 13, which will premiere on Sunday, 14 April.

The statement from Mzansi Magic says that crime, corruption and betrayal at the highest levels will be the driving themes of the new drama series.

"Set in the gritty heart of Joburg, Code 13 tells the story of Bheki Ndlovu, played by Zolisa Xaluva, a no-nonsense Jozi detective who has a knack for connecting the dots and solving complex cases. Together with a hard-edged police unit, he is tasked with recapturing six of the city's most dangerous criminals who escaped from a police van while they were in custody," says Mzansi Magic.

They said the challenging case presents him with hurdles at every turn as his efforts unravel a web of corruption, betrayal and secrets at the top.

"Moreover, not only does Bheki’s work life seem to be 'adventurous' but his personal life also plays an important role as he tries to balance both, especially when his love interest turns out to be a colleague," they said.

They said the Seriti Films-produced series also stars Lunathi Mampofu as Bongi Nkosi, a police detective and Bheki’s love interest, Aluve Mjali as Marcus "Mamba" Moagi, a highly skilled hacker, and Primo Baloyi as Veli "Veja" Mohalanyane, who is deeply connected to the community, making him a trusted informant. Other actors who will star in the series are Zikhona Bali as Azania, Saint Seseli as Patrick, and Thami Mngqolo as Dr Pitso.

"The big question is: can Bheki trust his team of overqualified and egotistical law enforcers to recapture this group of dangerous escapees and uncover a web of corruption that reaches to the highest levels of power before the city is plunged into irreversible chaos?” the statement reads.
