ACADEMICS, historians and cultural experts are disgusted by what they described as a distortion of history on Shaka iLembe.

They accused the Mzansi Magic drama series of chasing viewership and money at the expense of history. A renowned researcher and cultural expert, Dr Gugu Mazibuko told Daily Sun that watching the second episode was cringeworthy.

"I’ve watched both episodes but I could not finish the second episode because it was too embarrassing to watch. There’s too much blood and so far the episodes are just confusing. But what stood out for me was defamation of the Ndwadwe clan. In these two episodes Queen Ntombazi was portrayed as a witch who lived with zombies in the caves. This is far from the truth and there is no evidence to support this," said Gugu.
