A POPULAR DJ says donating during this time of the year is something close to her heart!

DJ Tshegu said since the festive season started, she has been giving back to communities as part of her charity drive.

The musician, whose real name is Tshegofatso Phetlhu, told Daily Sun she was raised to share with those in need, especially during the festive period.

The 22-year-old Joburg-based DJ from Bloemfontein, Free State, said she has donated toys, stationery and toiletries to the less fortunate kids.

DJ Tshegu said it’s something that she has always wanted to do.

"Christmas is a beautiful time for a lot of us. So, I just wanted to spread the love, so they also remember love will always be here. It's vital to motivate the children, because many of them have gone through a lot and just a little encouragement goes a long way," she said.

The musician said she chose Iphahamiseng Child and Youth Care Centre this year to donate things needed by the young ones.

The Tiya Mfana hitmaker said she did this on Christmas day, adding that she aims to change as many lives as she could.

DJ Tshegu said the homes are close to her heart because they're in the same kasi she grew up in.

"We’d go there with my church group to sing. This was when I was part of a church choir."

According to the musician, to live is to learn.

"And when I say live, I mean to actually take risks, and be fearless. Don’t let anything stop you. You're the hero of your own life.

"There’s still so much more the world has to discover about me. Expect a lot more music, as well as lots and lots of collaborations with other musicians," she said.
