SINGER and songwriter Mthandazo Gatya has released his debut album, New Age Healer.

The singer who took the industry by storm last year with his platinum hit single Senzeni is excited about finally releasing the album.

New Age Healer dropped last week and he said like its title, he hopes it heals people.

“It is aimed for the heart, mind and soul. It is inspiring, motivational, and some songs are meant to educate.

“I wanted it to give people hope. We are going through a tough time and I wanted to help uplift people,” said the singer from Weilers Farm, south of Joburg.

The album features musicians such as Comado, Mvzzle, DJ Manzo Sa, Dr Thulz, Presh and Tumisho.

“I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve and I knew who to go to in order to achieve that. The toughest part was giving other people the opportunity.

“Trying to put people you’ve never worked with on. Trying to build chemistry with them was tough,” he said.

Mthandazo said the album was done spontaneously and he is happy about it.

“I didn’t write down any songs in the album. Every song on the album was based on a spiritual moment. I didn’t have to sit down and write, I just listened to the beat and words started flowing. I think people will relate to it because I sang from my heart,” said Mthandazo..

He said he didn’t expect the reception he has been receiving from fans.

“People are loving it. I wasn’t expecting it to trend or be followed like amapiano albums.

“ I had hoped it would grow into people’s hearts and it is doing exactly that. I get feedback from people every day. It’s doing very well,” said Mthandazo.

He is already touring for the album and his next stop is Eastern Cape. New Age Healer is available on all digital streaming platforms.
