DJ and producer Morda has taken a touch of Mzansi house music to the world.

He scored himself a feature on the soundtrack of Oprah Winfrey’s new movie, The Color Purple starring Hollywood A-listers Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia, Danielle Brooks, Halle Bailey, Corey Hawkins, Ciara, as well as H.E.R.

He partnered with former Idols SA contestant, Brenden Praise on the song.

Morda, whose real name is Bongani Mohosana (36), said he was asked to remix American singer Tamela Mann’s gospel single, Mysterious Ways.

“I feel amazing. It's a dream come true to be featured in a movie as big as The Color Purple. Their team reached out to mine and the brief was ‘open canvas’.

“As soon as my management team expressed that the world needed a hit single from Morda, I immediately reached out to Brenden Praise, and we worked on the first version. We felt like it was the one. I submitted it knowing they would love it. We knew we had made an instant hit,” he said.

The DJ said the song is a testimony of his life.

“The name of the single, Mysterious Ways is a true testament of my life. I can confidently say that the Lord has worked His mystery on my life and career. He has given me the talent to bring joy and healing to people’s lives through my music,” said Morda.

Brenden also took to social media to celebrate being part of the film.

"First Movie soundtrack Credits! The Good lord truly works in Mysterious Ways, thank you @murdahbongz for trusting me to contribute to this beautiful remix. Such an honor to work on one of my favourite movie franchises with my all time favourite Producer Mörda! Also special thanks to the @gamma team for everything,” he wrote.

The soundtrack also features Keyshia Cole, Mary J Blige, Coco Jones, H.E.R, Missy Elliot and Timberland.
