THE Metro FM Awards made a comeback this year after a five-year break.

And the stars came out in numbers at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday, 6 May for a night of glitz, glamour and a celebration of South African music.

Sticking to this year's theme: Black Is Back, Mzansi celebs, socialites and influencers dressed up to the nines to walk the black carpet.

The late rapper, AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, was the biggest winner of the night. He posthumously won four awards: Artist of the Year, Best Hip Hop Artist, Best Male Artist and Best Collaboration Song for Lemonade featuring Nasty C.

The awards were received by his parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, as well as his daughter, Kairo.
