Hip-hop artist Menzi “Meezy” Khumalo (24) is surprised by the success of his latest song, My Story.

“This song is only two months old but it’s already trending on digital stores. It became an instant hit and I’m grateful for this,” said Meezy.

“On the song I’m explaining everything about things I came across in my life.

“This is a song of hope and it’s purpose is to assure those who are facing difficulties that things will be fine.”

He is fairly new to the music industry but his music is already on high rotation on local radio stations.

This song, My Story, comes after his debut EP, titled Feelings, which was released in 2019.

The EP has four songs: I Need Love, Stay Calm, I Can’t Deny It, and Worth It.

“My EP is special because I put a lot of information in it.

“With this EP, I wanted to help people heal from their painful and broken relationships.

“I wanted people to heal from pain of losing their loved ones. I was also trying to heal from my own pain. I’m glad because this EP did exactly that,” he said.

Meezy said he has been promoting the EP since 2019.

“However, it hasn’t been easy due to lockdown.

“But I’m hoping it’ll eventually pick up,” he said.

Meezy was born in Kwamhlabuyalingana, northern KZN, but he now lives in Durban.

His music journey started in 2018, after listening to famous rap artist Zakwe.

“As a young boy I listened to Zakwe’s music a lot. His songs and the way he arranged the tracks inspired me.

“Now my wish is to collaborate with him on some of my songs,” he told SunBuzz.
