FEMALE musicians often feel sidelined by the organisers of top festivals.
But the Mbokodo Music Festival wants to change this.
The upcoming event will only give female musicians an opportunity to share the stage and show the audience they, like their male counterparts, are capable of entertaining people.
Big names such as the multi-award-winning gospel star Thobekile Mkhwanazi, multi-award-winning Buselaphi Gxowa, Vumile Mngoma, Fikile Mngoma and Zee Fola will perform live at the event presented by Iziqwe Production.
Umkhokha: The Curse's Indlovukazi Mapule will be MC at the festival which will be held at the eThekwini Community Church in Durban on 2 December.
Buselaphi, who has been in the music industry for more than 30 years, told Daily Sun she was happy.

“As much as many people love our music, but we often feel sidelined in many top events where event organisers do not include us. We are happy that this event is dedicated to us, women.
"We will make sure that we show the audience that we are capable of entertaining because we will be performing live. I invite people to come and see us, especially women,” she said.
One of organisers, Cry Ncube, told Daily Sun the main purpose of the festival was to make female talent shine and emphasise their involvement in the music industry.
“We made sure that we bring superstars of women musicians who have made their names in maskandi music and gospel music.
“The festival is meant to show respect to women musicians and show them that they are equal to men musicians in terms of entertaining the audience,” she said.
She said they were inviting people to come in numbers to witness women sharing the stage.
