MASKANDI legend Khangelani “DSD” Mhlongo and up-and-coming artist Jikeleza Khumalo have finally ironed out their differences.
The two had been fighting since last year and there were even death threats, forcing Khangelani to leave Joburg to hide at his home in Nkandla, KZN.
The trouble started when Jikeleza accused Khangelani of stealing his song, Kophelela Emkhukhwini.
Khangelani admitted the song was the same but didn’t pitch up for meetings to resolve the matter.
Both artists said they decided to stop the war before fans got involved and it became ugly.
Jikeleza said they met in Joburg on Saturday, 19 March and ironed out their differences. “We realised it’s bad for us to fight because we both come from Nkandla. We want our fans to let our fight go,” he said.

Jikeleza, who’ll be releasing his third album titled uDumakahle, on Saturday, 26 March, said it was water under the bridge. “No action will be taken against DSD for stealing my song. I was heartbroken because I felt he was undermining me, thinking the song didn’t suit me. He explained he covered the song because we both come from Nkandla and he wanted the song to be popular,” he said.
Jikeleza’s manager, Sibekezelo Mthembu, said he got the two to stop fighting. “It was important to make them stop because if they continued, their fans would have joined the war and it would have got out of hand,” he said.
DSD confirmed that he had made peace with Jikeleza.
“We are both from Nkandla and we didn’t want other people to use that to destroy Nkandla’s music. It was a Nkandla matter and we didn’t know why so many people were interested in our fight,” he said.
