REDEMPTION's newest troublemaker Luyanda Zwane says her character has healed her from her past.
The model and actress just made her debut as Nomonde, the daughter of Yvonne Zikode (played by Pearl Modiadie). She has brought nothing but trouble and chaos into the Zikode household.
However, even though she's bringing drama, Luyanda said her character has taught her a lot.
Luyanda (19) spoke to Daily Sun about her character and the lessons she has learnt.
"Nomonde was raised as Yvonne’s sister, but it turns out she’s actually her daughter. One thing about her is that she is strategic, even though she’s just 18. She visits the Zikode household for holidays but ends up causing chaos.
"She’s there to reveal secrets - Yvonne’s secrets and even the Zikode’s secrets that no one knew. She then reveals the big secret that she’s Yvonne’s daughter," Luyanda said.

The actress said she’s taken some lessons from playing Nomonde.
"Nomonde went through the same thing I went through and playing her has done so much for me. With all the characters I’ve portrayed, I find a certain level of healing through them.
"Yvonne doesn’t take care of Nomonde even after she reveals that she’s her daughter. She doesn’t care about her. That showed me that you can say you need something from your parents, and they just don’t care, like Yvonne.
"Your job is to accept that it will never happen and move on because that’s what will heal you. Nomonde taught me that it’s okay to step away when someone doesn’t want you and that healed me as Luyanda Zwane," Luyanda said.
She said she’s enjoyed being on set with big stars she grew up watching on TV.
"It was a Godly experience because I walked on set and I saw people I used to watch as a child. It was challenging though because I was working among big and reparable stars. I was very cautious about how I move, look and what I say. I wanted to show them respect.
"The whole experience was mentally and emotionally challenging, but it was lovely," she said.
