UMHLOBO Wenene FM presenter Lusanda Mbane made waves at New York Fashion Week.
This after the renowned actress walked tall and proud in her Xhosa traditional dress on the New York Fashion Week runway.
The former Scandal! actress stole the show in her outfit and even danced the traditional dance on the runway in New York, USA on Saturday, 10 February.
Lusanda (44) flaunted the design by her company, Zazi Clothing, co-owned with Onwaba Mleve.
She shared a video of herself on her social media platforms and gave props to Onwaba, who is the designer of the brand.
The New York Fashion Week is a series of events where designers from all over the world debut their clothing lines for the season.
Lusanda spoke to Daily Sun about the moment she walked the runway.
“I’m reminded of the words of Maya Angelou when she said, ‘I come as one, but I stand as ten thousand'. I felt like that at that moment. I was alone, but I know I was accompanied and carried. Prior to going there, I thought I'd watch fashion TV channels and familiarise myself with what’s happening in the fashion world, what’s in and how people are walking. And I quickly realised that it wasn’t necessary.

“I don’t think my assignment was to go there and do what everybody else does. We were literally carrying Africa to the world, so I needed to approach it that way. I knew going there that whatever comes at the time, I would let it go through me,” she said.
Lusanda said although she couldn't remember half of what happened when on stage, she felt like her dancing was the best part of it.
“I feel like I floated through the stage. I don’t remember walking through the stage, I just remember the feeling of great energy from the audience, the vibe and people really being receptive and positive towards what we were bringing them. And that is why I danced, at that time, it felt important to do it on a stage where it hadn’t been done before.
“It felt like a milestone and a stride. It felt like we are saying we are here, and we are unapologetic about it,” Lusanda said.
