ALL he wanted to do was promote up-and-coming artists’ work online.
But little did he know that his content would be loved and followed by many social media users. Now, his podcast has thousands of followers and he has grown more in love with it.
Richard Baloyi, popularly known as Richy B, hosts the Beehive Podcast on YouTube and said people love watching his show.
The 35-year-old from Marulaneng in Mokopane, Limpopo became popular after interviewing the likes of dancer Skomota on his show.
He told Daily Sun he didn’t think that he'd be this popular.
“I started making videos with my girlfriend. She makes make-up videos, and I would join her and interact with her, but having a podcast was not in my plans or mind,” he said.
Richy B said one day he decided to interview up-and-coming artists on his channel to give them exposure. “It was just normal interviews until I interviewed media personalities and that’s when I started trending,” he said.
He said his platform blew up after his interview with Skomota.

“Many people loved the podcast and I gained a lot of followers. Skomota was already known, but after the podcast he also grew his following, so I would like to believe that he and I helped each other,” he said.
He said he feels blessed to be where he is currently.
“I feel that it's time. When God says he will give you a certain thing at a certain time, then it is not my will, but it is all God,” he said.
Richy B said he realised the importance of podcasts in the entertainment industry.
“The important and interesting thing about podcasts is that you can say and express yourself the way you want to, there is no limitation,” he said.
He said the podcast has opened a lot of doors for him. “I am able to get MC gigs at weddings, events and all over,” he said.
