CONTROVERSIAL Lesedi FM presenter addresses gender-based violence allegations.

Nkunyana "Skuzabell" Nkunyana announced on his Facebook page on Tuesday, 9 April that it's no secret that he's facing domestic violence charges in court.

"As a law-abiding citizen of South Africa, I respect the law and abide by it. That's why I want to give the court the space it needs for the process to unfold. However, once the case is finalised, I will provide further details. Remember that there are always two sides to the story," Skuzabell said.

This is the first time Skuzabell spoke out on social media after he was arrested in Bloemfontein in the Free State on Tuesday, 2 April for allegedly assaulting his wife.

Skuzabell's comments have angered Gender Equality South Africa.

Gender Equality national spokesman, Javu Baloyi, said Skuzabell showed no remorse for the allegations levelled against him.

"We see GBV violence in South Africa as a serious offence. Many women have lost their lives in the hands of cruel men. The presenter is arrogant enough to take to a social media platform to tell the country that there are always two sides to the story.

"If he's a law-abiding citizen as he has announced, he should distance himself from any offensive remarks concerning to his case. We advise his wife to visit our office in the Free State so that we can launch our own investigation. We want to teach people on the public platform that GBV in Mzansi is a sin," Baloyi said.

Skuzabell was supposed to be hosting the popular Lesedi FM popular morning drive show, Thakgowa, when he was arrested.

Daily Sun published the story under headline: Bust Lesedi FM presenter's wife speaks!, in which his wife Thakane Ramakau described him as an alleged abusive man behaving innocently on a public broadcasting platform.

In an interview with Daily Sun, Thakane claimed that, among other things, her husband came to her house and allegedly demanded to move her furniture to his new house where he lives with his girlfriend.

"When I questioned this, he choked me and severely assaulted me in front of our kids. That was the second time he had choked me. The first time was at my parents' house in QwaQwa. I tried to protect his status and sacrificed my happiness," she said.

Skuzabell is out on R1 000 bail. He will reappear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 2 May.
