SOUTH Africans are excited about celebrating Pride Month this month and so is Lasizwe Dambuza.

As part of his excitement and celebration, the reality TV star and YouTuber has partnered with shoe brand, Bathu to celebrate colour and Pride Month via their bright sneakers called the Mesh Limited Edition.

The 25-year-old star spoke to Daily Sun about the collaboration and the sneakers that represent the queer community.

"This collaboration was created because I want us to celebrate, not fight because we're always fighting for our rights. Let’s celebrate being human because people think when you’re queer, you’re a toy. So, I want us to stop feeling like we need to fight to be recognised. We’re trying to make everyone feel included through this collaboration," he said.

This is not Lasizwe's first time collaborating with the brand, and he said he's enjoyed working with them every single time.

"I feel like this brand understands our community. Even internally, with the staff, we're treated like normal people. There’s no special treatment or people being treated differently because of who they are. We're all treated the same.

"And the fact that they have partnered with me for so many years and are intentional with including us as the LGBTQI in their brand, I love it. We have different variations of campaigns that we do with the brand, and it shows that we are pushing the message of inclusion and diversity," he said.

Speaking about the bright colours of the shoe, he said: "The Mesh Limited Edition shoe is very bright. There's the neon orange, blue, black, bright yellow and white. The reason we chose bright colours is because the LGBTQI flag is very bright. And it’s not just for the queer community, but for everyone really. It’s a very comfortable show and it symbolises local is lekker."

Cedrick Diphoko, managing director at Bathu Footwear, told Daily Sun they want people to feel included.

"We believe that everyone is on a journey and ours is to inspire, equip and inspire those journeys. We're also passionate about creating a world where everyone feels accepted and valued for who they truly are.

"Pride Month provides an excellent opportunity to amplify the voices within the LGBTQIA+ community and to celebrate their unique contributions to society.

"We're excited to embark and walk this journey of enlightenment and celebration with the aim of promoting acceptance and love," Cedric said.
