THE KZN African Film Festival (KAFF) is celebrating two decades of cinematic excellence in style.
The annual festival arms young people with information on the acting industry.
It will be held at the KwaMashu Community Advancement Projects (KCAP) in KZN from 12 to 17 December 2023.
There will be a screening of films as well as acting masterclasses and workshops.
Mzansi famous actors will be uplifting the up-and-coming actors through workshops and masterclasses, which will focus on camera, animation, film editing, film (pre-production and post-production), film directing, make-up, special effect and script writing.
KCAP centre manager Thobile Ximba said to commemorate the 20-year milestone, KAFF has assembled a team of accomplished film facilitators, who are proud products of KCAP.
“Facilitators include Gugu Mzobe (Sibongile & The Dlaminis, Samukele Mkhize (Skeem Saam), Lucky Simayile (Ushaka iLembe), Velile Makhoba (Icala) and Angel Zuma (Umkhokha: The Curse).
“This film industry expert will lead various master classes and film workshops, providing a unique opportunity for attendees to learn from the very best” she said.

She said the festival is supported by the KZN Film Commission at the KZN Department of Sport, Art and Culture and they promise an enriching experience for film enthusiasts and aspiring filmmakers alike.
She said the festival spearheaded by KCAM has garnered unwavering support over the years and continues to be a cornerstone in promoting cinemas.
“This year’s festival is honoured to have Triggerfish, renowned for their animation expertise and Film Independent, which is a distinguished film producing company based in Los Angeles as partners.
“This collaboration will bring a wealth of knowledge and opportunities to the festival, furthering its commitment to nurturing talent and fostering collaboration on a global scale,” she said.
She said highlighting the festival’s commitment to education, Triggerfish will conduct a two-day animation workshop on 13 and 14 December.
“Concurrently, Film Independent will virtually host a film producing masterclass on Saturday, 16 December, providing invaluable insights for aspiring filmmakers,” she said.
She added that the opening film is Blind Eye, which will be represented by actor Noxolo Mathula and Thembi Mtshali Jones amongst others.
