THE first-ever KwaZulu World Carnival will celebrate all things in KZN, including dance, food, culture, sound, and many more in Durban.
The carnival will also give Durban people a second Christmas as they will see their favourite musicians performing for free.
The carnival will be held at Workshop Durban Centrum on Thursday, 28 December, with a street carnival of people wearing their traditional clothes from different countries such as eSwatini, Botswana, Zambia, Burundi and local groups like Tsonga and Basotho.
Event organisers said the carnival will celebrate the cultures and traditions that make KZN a diverse and vibrant place.
They said they encourage everyone to come for free in traditional dress or costumes representing their heritage.

Event manager Njabulo Sokhela from Mirror PR & Events said this KwaZulu World Carnival will grow in years to come to attract the entire world.
“We want to be like RIO in Brazil, as carnivals are known as tourist attractions. Ours is different as it will surely give all attendees an authentic experience," he said.
“We will have troupes from KZN, various izigodi (villages), troupes from eSwatini, Botswana, Zambia, Burundi, and local groups such as Tsonga and Basotho."
Njabulo said this is a family affair, with dancers, stilt walkers, brass bands, drum majorettes, traditional dancers and more.
The new carnival will include a parade from noon to 2pm, down from Commercial Street to the Workshop, Centrum Park.
Njabulo said people are invited to wear their traditional clothes and line up on the streets to enjoy the different performances from different countries.
“The carnival will finish off at Centrum Park with a free concert headlined by Big Zulu and it will start at 3pm until 9pm."
Musicians such as Khuzani, Mthandeni, Jumbo, DJ Ziel, DJ Happy Gil, Mbuso Khoza, and Zandie Khumalo will share the stage, and entry will be free.
