"Today, I celebrate a hero who taught me how life actually works, a man who embraced me as I was. Trust me when I say raising me was not easy. I dreamed big and he would laugh but when I dreamed below my capabilities, he would make me see my shortcomings.”

He remembers how his dad used to take good care of and provide for the family.

The actor also remembers how his father stressed the importance of education.

"He would always say to my siblings and I 'the only way anyone who spends my money is through education," wrote Khaya.

He said his dad gave them tough love.

"I did it dad. I've done everything I promised I would do. For the longest time, I saw your tough love as hectic. I would sometimes throw in the homophobic card now and then," he added

He then asked his dad to continue serving the family as an amazing angel.
