GOSPEL singer and radio presenter Khaya Mthethwa is leaving Kaya959.

Khaya hosted his last show on Saturday, 25 March and made the announcement then.

He hosted the Saturday midday show called On That Note.

The Bhekani Uthando singer also shared the news on social media and said it has been a great journey. Then he thanked his fans for supporting him.

“Kicking off my last show on @KayaON959 it’s been a beautiful ride on the street and on the air! Thank you guys for the beautiful moments we’ve shared on air!! #OnThatNote,” he wrote.

Khaya joined the radio station last year after leaving Metro FM where he hosted the Sunday morning gospel show with Thami Ngubeni. At the time, he told Daily Sun that he was glad to be hosting a show that’s not gospel.

“I’ve always been big on not being boxed in as a gospel artist. I love music and love working with different artists, not only in the gospel fraternity. On That Note will showcase my musicality, which is way broader than the gospel genre. I’m excited about that,” he said.

Khaya did not answer the phone when called. His manager, Florence Khoza said they cannot comment.

“We cannot comment on this yet, but an announcement will be made soon,” she said.
