KELLY Khumalo’s illustrious career has been characterised by strength, resilience and fortitude.
Like any musical piece, Kelly’s career has had its high and low notes, and on this week’s edition of Famous Friday, the multi-award-winning legend talks to us about her latest single and much-anticipated album.
“The storyline of Bazokhuluma is something that everyone can relate to. People talk on a regular basis, whether you do good or you do bad. People will continue to talk, and we wanted to see who fits into the song.
“So Mondli suggested Zakwe and Mthunzi,” explained Kelly.
We asked if the single was the prelude to album and she said: “Absolutely. In fact, if the album was not so big and had a lot of work behind it, it would’ve come out now because the production and mastering are done. However, the music is not just audio, its also visual. So, we are in preparation of the visuals.” We were eager to hear who she worked with on the album.
“I’m very pedantic about my sound and so on production I’m still working with Mondli. But one person I’ve been fascinated about for years, not only by his music but his spirituality and sense of Africanism, is Mbuso Khoza. I’m very fascinated by him and blessed that he’s part of the album”.
Kelly also exclusively revealed to us that her album will be released in the first quarter of 2023, and revealed that her current album is the soundtrack of her life right now, “in every sense, in every song”.
Finally, we asked Kelly to share something fans don’t know about her.
“I love my space. I’m literally that person that sits alone and enjoys their company,” she laughed.
