“South Africa is one of my favourite places to perform in because of how much love I receive. I am always shocked at how much of my music everyone knows here and that exchange of love and positive energy is always refreshing for an artist.
“I come here not as a headliner but equally as a fan of this beautiful country. I am grateful and excited to see some amazing artists. I want to do collaborations, and I get to see everybody perform which is an honour,” she said, adding that there's new music on the horizon.
The Comedy Night which happened on Thursday set the mood for the extravaganza that was to come, while day two on Friday, 8 December, was for the groovists. It featured the likes of DJ Tira, Nkosazana Daughter, Daliwonga, De Mthuda, North West’s very own Mo Moleme, Hash One and Durban Gogo among others, setting the stage alight.
People's spirits will be revived on Saturday as the clap and tap segment of the festival takes over. The gospel offering will see the likes of Barorisi Ba Morena, Pure Sounds, Thato Ya Hao Artist Movement, Di Bruin Gospel Project, Refentse Gospel Choir, Impact Gospel Group and Arabian Force Brass Band, all joining forces to uplift spirits at the concert fiesta.
Thabo Mabe, who is the chief director for arts, heritage and libraries at the Department of Arts and Culture in the North West, said: “The festival’s return is not only a victorious feat but also a provincial pride. We are excited to know that the mandate of promoting cultural and heritage tourism, as well as celebrating the artists from this region with the rest of the nation, will continue.”
