THE legendary Kalawa Jazmee Records will finally be telling their story in a new documentary series.

The record label owned by Oskido, Mahoota, Spikiri, Mjokes, Dope and Don Laka has signed some of the most prominent musicians in Mzansi, including Mafikizolo, Boom Shaka, B.O.P, Bongo Muffin, Zonke, DJ Zinhle, Black Motion, Big Nuz, as well as Busiswa.

The show, called The Kalawa Jazmee Story premieres on Thursday, 13 August. Mahoota spoke to Daily Sun about the show.

“We felt like it was time we tell our story. Kalawa has always been different and has always done big things. It’s time we finally share our journey,” he said.

Mahoota said the show has been a long time coming.

“We believe in life everything works with time, so when it was time to do this, we wanted to work with a reputable company to make sure our story will be delivered in the right way. So, we forged a great partnership with DStv, and they put an effort to make sure we came up with a good story.

“The story is going to blow people away. We’ll talk about how we met. It’s like a story of something that started very bad and turned into something beautiful,” the music boss said.

Mahoota said viewers should expect something exciting.

“This story will change the whole scene of the South African music industry, and it will inspire youngsters and elders as well.

“I don’t want to reveal a lot, but we will blow you guys away. Please watch it like you’re at the cinema. Get popcorn because you will enjoy it,” Mahoota said.
