The 27-year-old from Durban, whose real name is Nozipho Sibiya, said: “Thousands of youth from all over Mzansi audition for this competition. They all have one goal, to become a South African Idol. And the talent is amazing.

“ So being in the top three is still unbelievable for me.”

The singer is also supported by the Department of Arts and Culture in KZN, which has recently urged music fans to vote for her.

Although she has not won, her talent has been recognised.

Even American singer Jennifer Hudson gave her the thumbs up.

Nozi said she went back to the competition not knowing that this time, she’d be listed among the best. “I entered the competition in 2016, but I didn’t go this far. I thought I’d never come back again. But my mum, knowing my talent and love for music, encouraged me to go back and try again. I’m thanking her for that. Winning this competition would be a bonus for me. And I’m hoping that doors will open and offers will flock in,” said Nozi.
