The sky is the limit for season 16 Idols SA finalist Phumzile “Ndoni” Mseleku.
Ndoni, who was raised in Newlands West, KZN, recently shared her experience on life before and after the competition.
“When I entered this competition I already knew I could sing but I needed the right exposure to tap into the music industry. I’m glad I did because Idols gave me more than what I needed. Being in the top five was the cherry on top for me. I’d never anticipated that because the competition was difficult,” she said.
“Today I’m grateful for all that experience and I’ll always be thankful for all the support I received,” she continued.
But life after Idols SA was even more difficult.

“Covid-19 happened and everything, including gigs, came to a stop. Fortunately I’d already made a lot of friends and contacts in the music industry, so I managed to keep my head above water. A number of artists featured me on their songs,” she recalled.
Last year she was featured on Oskido’s Emakhaya. She also released her debut single Mpinda Mshaye and it was well received. This year she was featured by Heavy K on his song, Phakeme.
She recently released a song called Angimfuni Omunye.
“This is an amapiano song with a spiritual feel. On this song I featured De Mthuda and Da Muzical Chef,” she explained.
This song is part of an upcoming EP.
“I haven’t decided on the title or number of songs of the EP but I’m already working with Heavy K and Nokwazi on it. Heavy K is also producing it. It will be released later in the year.”
“My ultimate goal is to leave a mark in this world,” said Ndoni.
