RADIO presenter, DJ and podcaster, Sol Phenduka, says he has found a good home at Kaya 959.
The 35-year-old media personality, who joined the station over a month ago, said it was the perfect fit for him.
He co-hosts 959 Breakfast show with Dineo Ranaka on weekdays between 6am and 9am.
Speaking to SunBuzz, the presenter, whose real name is Solomzi Phenduka, said the station understood him and what he wanted.
“For me, the deal made sense because I’m on a podcast and they understood that I also got another thing going.
“But also, the brand where they are going makes sense with where I am right now in my life. I’m obviously not getting any younger and this deal felt right.”
“As a young broadcaster, you sort of have a mind map of your career and the direction you want it to take. I’ve always wanted to be on Kaya and I feel like now is the perfect time. It’s a great marriage,” he said.
Sol said the past month has been a learning curve for him.

“I’ve been learning, it’s obviously a new environment, but it’s been welcoming and the listeners have also welcomed us warmly. However, it’s been a month of adjustments because it’s different from a podcast. I’ve also been learning the team and adjusting to the different formats. ButIt’s been a multipot of fun.”
The DJ will also be playing at Kaya’s 25th birthday celebration on 3 September at DP World Wanderers Stadium in Sandton, north of Joburg.
He’ll be playing alongside some of Mzansi’s biggest stars such as Trompies, Kabelo Mabalane, Thebe Lenyora, Zakes Bantwini, Khuli Chana, Ami Faku, Vusi Nova, as well as Nomfundo Moh.
“it’s a family day, everyone who listens to Kaya is welcome to bring their families to celebrate Kaya’s 25th birthday celebrating. And I think it was fitting that we bring on some iconic kwaito musicians because if you look at the inception of Kaya and kwaito, it goes together,” he said.
“But also, most importantly, to give them their flowers while they are still alive. It’s going to be a day of entertainment, fun music, great food and great company,” said Sol.
Tickets for the event start from R100 to R500 at Ticketpro.
