MANY were looking forward to enjoying music from their favourite artists live on stage, but now that won’t happen.

The most awaited event taking place in Tshwane next week, Hey Neighbour festival, brought bad news to Afrobeat lovers.

The organisers of the festival regretfully announced the withdrawal of Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Divine Ikubor.

According to the organisers, he won’t perform anymore due to health reasons.

“The festival team received this news from Rema's management team this week. We send our best wishes for his recovery and hope to see him on our stage in the future,” they said.

Warren Le Grange, Hey Neighbour Festival director, expressed disappointment and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

“Hey Neighbour Festival remains dedicated to providing an engaging line-up with exceptional talent from various genres. The festival team looks forward to welcoming attendees to an unforgettable event filled with incredible music and memorable experiences,” Le Grange said.

They said that two more artists won’t be present at the event as well.

“In addition, American rapper and singer Jared Leonardo Lee, popularly known as Duckwrth, is currently dealing with Vertigo, while Jonathan Lee Pratt best known as JZYNO, unfortunately, won't be able to attend due to unforeseen circumstances,” they said.

The team said that their line-up for other artists is still the same and are urging fans to attend the festival to see their favourite perform their jams.

The international line-up includes singer H.E.R, Khalid, The Chainsmokers, Swedish House Mafia, and the renowned American hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar, who will also perform at the festival.
