GOSPEL singer and songwriter, Khulekani Chili has been hospitalised. 

The Joburg-based musician said he was involved in a car accident this past weekend while driving his grey Ford Fiesta on his way from Sandton, Joburg.

The Ngezeni hitmaker said he was admitted to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Parktwon, Joburg.

The 38-year-old told Daily Sun that he was from a meeting with his team when the accident happened on Sunday, 3 March.

"The accident happened last night. I was coming from a meeting from Grayston in Sandton around 7pm," he said.

"It was a meeting about the new single that I've just released. I was admitted to

Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Joburg," Khulekani said.

The musician was badly injured and hopes for a speedy recovery as he's eager to perform.

"I'm in pain. I was stuck inside the car. I broke two ribs and the collar shoulder," he said.

"I was" stuck in the car for almost two hours, but they were able to cut the front door and took me out. I thought I was going to die."

Khulekani said he's grateful that God has given him a second chance.

 "What's in store for me? I've just released a new single titled Basop Umngani. It's in all the digital platforms for everyone who needs guidance about life," Khulekani said.

 Khulekani's manager, Aubrey Diphoko, said that he is still under the supervision of doctors in the hospital.

"He broke two ribs and collar shoulder," he said.

He further said the gospel singer was busy with rehearsals as he was preparing to perform at the Gospel Tshwane Derby as a surprise guest alongside singers Simon Makgatholela and Paul K on Saturday, 23 March at the Tshwane State Theatre.

Gibson Manick from Tranquility Rehabilitation where Khulekani works as an alcohol and drug counselor said: "I was at Joburg General Hospital last night and I believe they will take care of him."
