GOSPEL musician Sgwili Zuma is on a mission.
Sgwili wants residents and traditional healers to understand that people living with albinism are also human beings, not imithi.
The gospel star, who also has albinism, started the campaign to protect people with albinism and allow them to live a normal life without fear of being killed for muthi or mistreated because of their skin condition.
The musician from KwaXimba, west of Durban in KZN, said his campaign is called Albinism Arise.
He said it will start with a concert called Albinism Arise Live featuring other artists living with albinism such as Nomthi Sishi, Sebeh Khuzwayo, and Halala.
He said Thinah Zungu, Jumbo and Lungelo Hlongwane will be guest artists at the event.
The concert will be held at The Playhouse in Durban on 15 September.

Sgwili told Daily Sun that after the concert, he will visit traditional healers and rural areas to raise awareness about albinism, albino killings and mistreatment.
“It hurts that people living with albinism are not fully relaxed where they live, especially in rural areas. After reading bad news about people with albinism, I started this campaign last year,” he said.
Sgwili said when he started his campaign, he visited families with people who live with albinism and discovered that they were being mistreated in their areas.
“Albino people have amazing and different talents, but the challenge is that many of them are afraid to come out because they are afraid of being mistreated,” he said.
He said he did a talent search for people with albinism to give them a chance to showcase their talents.
