FORMER TS Galaxy coach has warned his contacts over a scam.

Owen Da Gama (62) was surprised when he received calls and messages from his contact list asking him about the messages he had been sending to them.

Da Gama believes his number was hacked by someone who wanted to use his name to ask for personal favours and loot people’s money in his name.

The scammer was sending messages asking for a favour.

“I'm contesting for an ambassadorship sport at an online influencer programme. Can you vote for me, please?

“I’ll send you an entry code, all you have to do is screenshot the code and send it back to me as once view, and I’ll send it to my sponsor, okay?” wrote the scammer.

Da Gama said he alerted everyone on his contact list to ignore the messages.

He also mentioned that he had not opened a case because no one was scammed of money.

“It was hacked, I think, yesterday because they started receiving messages yesterday evening around 10pm and this morning.

“It’s a scam for TikTok or something else. They obviously plan to use my name to gain from my contacts. You can never be sure what the motives are,” said Da Gama.

He explained how they used his number.

“I don’t know how they're using my number, and how they have access to my contact list. I think they didn't know who they were talking to. I think they were going to ask for money in the end.”

The coach said he took a break from coaching due to a lot of pressure.

Celebrities who have been scammed before.

Mashudu Mosoeu told Daily Sun her Facebook got hacked, and she tried to report it to Facebook several times.

“My Facebook page, MashuduSA, was unfortunately hacked last year. The person who has done this pretends to be me and has access to innocent fans.”

Reality TV star Inno Morolong had a scammer claiming to be her and asking for money.

“There are women who are scammed by different people using my pictures. I have no power over that because I’m a public figure, and my pictures are everywhere. These people ask for money. They'are asking for e-wallets, cash send, and the victims send it."
