Legendary musician Vusi Mahlasela said it was a pleasure playing in front of his home fans in Mamelodi.

"I miss the vibe of the late Hugh Masekela, Gloria Bosman, Jonas Gwangwa and Sibongile Khumalo. May their souls rest in eternal peace," he said.

Musician Nomfundo Ngcobo expressed her happiness at performing and doing what she believes she does best.

Sinamandla Kwepile, the project manager for the Moretele Park Tribute Concert, said the concert marked its 25th anniversary.

"Today's audience is new. A new vibe and new people. I believe there is a lot of growth to continue because this is like a pass down from one generation to the next," she said.

Kwepile emphasised the significance of reviving festivals in the cultural sector post-Covid-19.

She said there are places where they feel that they need to change from the old into the new.

The concert featured a carefully curated lineup, with artists like Ma Joy, Condry Ziqubu, and Master KG taking the stage to celebrate the cultural event.
