First awards to celebrate Zulu nation!

THE uniqueness of the Zulu nation will be celebrated with the 1KZN TV Prestige Awards, which will be launched at the Aloe Lifestyle Hotel on Tuesday, 28 February.

The main event will take place in June. 

This event is set to be the the first traditional Zulu awards event ever to be staged in KZN.

According to Anele Blose, sales and marketing manager at 1KZNTV, the event will celebrate the talent, innovation, and general uniqueness of the Zulu nation.

Anele said 1KZN TV is the custodians of these awards. 

"As a station, we pride ourselves in nurturing, showcasing local talent and reflecting the rich culture and history of the Zulu Kingdom. With this event, we're celebrating our own. We want to find out who is the best of the best in KZN," said Anele.

“It’s a big leap and it’s never been done, but we are very excited about the 1KZNTV Prestige Awards. The encouragement and support from the public and official sources, thus far, have been heartwarming."

Edwin Mncwango, CEO and station manager at 1KZN TV, said: "I am very proud of our channel and the role that we played in the last 15 years in raising the pride and confidence of Amazulu. Zulu is one of the most recognized words in the world. It is time we celebrate it and show off what our culture has to offer.”

Mncwango said the ceremony will award businesses, NGO’s, and entrepreneurs and also highlight influencer who inspire and pave the way for all thre people in KZN.

"More than 20 different categories will be published on Saturday, 1 April when voting commences. Popularity will be the criteria in all genres and the final votes will be counted by an auditing company. This will be an all-out popular contest with a clean and fair voting process," he said.

Nominees who reach the finals will be featured on 1KZN TV, and the award ceremony will be broadcast nationally on 1KZN TV.
