THE entertainment industry in Tshwane is under a shadow of doom.
After a touching farewell funeral for Lebogang "Aus Velemina" Ledwaba on Saturday, 20 April, they awoke to even more tragic news: the beloved Peter Mashata, another social media influencer, had been brutally murdered.
The R&B and soul DJ sensation, also a well-known TikTok creator and comedian, was shot and sadly died on Saturday, 20 April.
This happened shortly after leaving a show at Epozini Lifestyle, a home of R&B and Soul next to Block G clinic.
He then proceeded to Chicken Kwasa in Block G, Soshanguve, north of Tshwane, where he was shot.
When Daily Sun visited the family, friends and relatives had already gathered, with roughly 10 vehicles outside the yard.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mashata's manager, who preferred to be named Gugu, said that the driver called her immediately after the incident, which happened at around 2am.
She said Mashata died upon arriving at Akasia Hospital.

"The driver was injured on the right shoulder but survived. He was traumatised and couldn't speak. I had to give him pills to calm him down," she said.
She said it was terribly frustrating that he had to die in this manner after buying his bakkie.
Gugu has welcomed messages of comfort to the family on all social platforms but has also encouraged the public to respect the family's privacy.
"Immediately after Mashata passed away, the news was trending, and the mother wasn't present, so I had to go fetch her from Hammanskraal at that hour because the news was going viral," she said.
She said she had surprised him with a birthday celebration two weeks ago to celebrate him and everything he had achieved, only to lose him in this tragic manner.
"Further communications regarding the funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public in due course," she said.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Noxolo Kweza confirmed the incident.
