THE family of Eyadini Lounge owner Jabulani' Mjay' Zama was encouraged not to close Eyadini Lounge after his death permanently.
Mjay's memorial service was held in the township of Umlazi at the Oasis Church south of Durban on Thursday, 17 August.
After his death, the family announced that Eyadini would be temporarily closed until further notice.
Speaking on behalf of artists, musician Thokozani 'Tzozo' Zulu said Mjay created many artists in the entertainment industry.
"Socialite Zodwa Wabantu was dancing in Eyadini; now, she is a celebrity. Some even many artists flew because of Mjay's tour to invade other provinces.
"As the KZN artist, we ask the family not to permanently close Eyadini Lounge. We are giving you time to mourn. Eyadini belongs to the people," he said.
His memorial service was attended by artists like Tzozo Zulu, DJ Cndo, DJ Sox, Dladla Mshunqisi, Madanone, DJ Merlon, Mondli Ngcobo Joyous Celebration co-founder Lindelani Mkhize and AmaZulu FC boss Sandile Zungu.

After a severe stroke, Mjay died on Saturday, 12 August, and will be laid to rest on Saturday, 19 August.
Tzozo encouraged the family that after they have finished mourning, they should re-open Eyadini, and they will support them.
Businessman Sandile Zungu, who is the AmaZulu FC boss from Umlazi, also encouraged the family not to make the mistake of closing Eyadini permanently.
"Just pause and breathe, consult, and seek advice to make Mjay's dream not disappear. I'm not saying that you must not consider options, but I'm just suggesting," he said.
Family spokesperson Langa Sithole encouraged people to continue supporting them.
Mjay, who is a former cop, started Eyadini Lounge more than ten years ago after he resigned from the SAPS.
The funeral service will be held at The Station Urban Venue in Durban Station.
