ARTIST manager and promoter Lindo "Dogg Dbn" Buthelezi has united Durban gqom music stars to release a compilation album.
Dogg Dbn, who managed the late gqom star Mampintsha, believes the unit will make them take the genre to another level in the KZN creative industry.
They have released a 23-track compilation album titled Durban Gqom Party Vol 1.
The album features Durban gqom stars such as Babes Wodumo, Big Nuz, Madanon, DJ Boonu, DJ Gukwa, Italian Job, Goldmax, Mapopo, and BlaQKiidd.
Buthelezi said the idea came after they recently hosted a gqom festival, and people loved it when the idea to have an album came.
“The purpose of this joint project is to unite artists and encourage the power of working together.
“Many artists sent their songs for the compilation album, and others just asked to be part of our first joint project.
“We are planning to have a live performance where the artists will perform alongside the live band, and that festival will be at the Durban Playhouse on 2 September," he said.

Dogg Dbn said Durban is known as the place for dance.
He said the gqom fever in the city had decreased since Distruction Boyz parted ways and Mampintsha died.
“Gqom music is going down, and we are trying to stop that from happening with this compilation of different top artists.
"It is difficult to push one artist,” he said.
He said they want to do different things to the genre and make it heard everywhere.
“More heads are better than one, and something with united people gets special attention. As gqom is going down, there is no time to promote one artist, and working together will give us better results.
“As I have worked with both KZN and Joburg musicians, I noticed that KZN artists still have to work hard to be united because Joburg artists are already working together,” he said.
