NELISIWE Sibiya, who acts on e.tv telenovela Durban Gen, does not believe in holding grudges and treating others unfairly.

On Friday, 24 June, the 29-year-old actress from Eshowe, KZN, took to Instagram to share her experience with certain people within her circle.

She shared that they used to laugh at her and talk down about her career. She said they would even tease her, saying she was just a singer.

Despite this, Nelisiwe decided that she would show them the power of God regarding how she was blessed to be in the entertainment industry.

She posted: “Omunye wrote bad about me ngisaziqalela ku acting, and said horrible things about me and why I got the lead when I am just a musician. I was so hurt, kodwa ngazithulela; I told myself I would work hard on my craft because God put me here for a reason.”

The Mama ka Bafana singer said now, the same people had invited her to a traditional ceremony called umhlonyane – a practice by the Zulu nation for girls when they reach womanhood.

Nelisiwe said she would be attending as their daughter looked up to her, and as she did not have a dark place in her heart, like them.
