AWARD-WINNING radio presenter and content producer on Kaya 959, DJ Keyez, has bagged another qualification.
Keyez, whose real name is Tebogo Motshabi obtained his diploma in practical media studies at Boston Media House in Sandton last week.
The DJ also has an advanced radio certificate from Radio Academy he obtained while working on Wits campus radio.
Kaya 959 posted DJ Keyez on LinkedIn celebrating his achievement on Saturday. The DJ also posted a video of himself on Twitter last night in his graduation attire.
Keyez has featured alongside well-known DJs in the South African entertainment industry in his quest to become one of Mzansi’s successful DJ. Keyez told Daily Sun that when he joined Kaya 959, he found out that the station paid for their employees’ tuition fees, so he took that opportunity a year after he joined the radio station.
“When I joined Kaya, I found out that the station pays for employees to study while working for them. After a year or so, I decided to take up this opportunity and study towards something that will help me grow in the broadcasting space and possibly put me in a position to be considered for different roles in the business and/or industry,” he said.
He also shared that when he started this journey in 2019, it was never easy as he was studying while working full-time at the same time.
“The journey then started in February 2019, and I have to say, the journey was very difficult. I’m not even gonna lie about that. Studying and working full time is taxing. On top of that, in July last year I was given my own show at the station. I produce and host this show so you can imagine the amount of time this takes out of one’s day.”
“I don’t have a secret or any special daily routines to suggest for people working and studying full time but what I can share is that, I did what I had to when I needed to. This, sometimes, meant other aspects of my life suffering but after walking that stage last week to finally graduate, I’d say it was totally worth it. Taxing. Tough. But worth it,” Keyez added.
