RADIO presenter and DJ Da Kruk has scored a radio show slot on Dash Radio based in Los Angeles, USA.
Da Kruk, whose real name is Kutloano Nhlapo, will be taking African music to the world on his show The Syndicate Africa.
He’s had a great year with hosting international radio shows. He got a DJ residency on a radio station called Makeda in Ibiza, Spain. He also hosted Ama-International on UK-based stations, Drums Radio and The Beat London.
The DJ told SunBuzz about how this new opportunity came about. “I met the owner of the station in 2019 when I was travelling to Norway. We were both speaking at an event about music and we clicked.
“He was also a radio DJ and we started talking about my hopes of getting into American radio.
“It took some time, but they finally put down an offer. I felt I was in the right state to establish something in America. So, it’s been three years in the making,” he said.
Da Kruk said he was glad to be taking African music to the world. There’s an interest in Africa from the entire world.”What I mean is people overseas got certain music from international labels and it would be a few musicians that they think would be superstars and dump them on playlists. But now, since we’re in the story-telling age, it’s important who tells the story. I want to put Africa on the map and taking to the world and without changing the narrative of what happens in Africa and without discrediting some of the artists. I want to tell the authentic African story. He said this opportunity is not just for him to prosper, but for African musicians too.

“This is an opportunity to help African artists to get their music playlisted on international platforms,” he said.
. I mean Hollywood is where everything starts. It’s the dream for everything entertainment related. I’ll be creating an avenue for people everywhere to upload their music. It’s not just me, but it’s also giving an opportunity to a young kid that does not have a record label or other means,” he said.
I was on the forefront of commercialising amapiano here and i was the first amapiano DJ to have a radio show on commercial radio station in the UK. The world is ready to work with Africa and endorse it. But we found that for a long time, not a lot of African artists were sold by Africans.
The Syndicate Africa will be broadcast on Fridays at 12pm from 1 April.
