REGGAE legends are set to grace Mzansi next month.

Pressure Busspipe from the US Virgin Islands and DYNAMQ from South Sudan will be performing at the Catch A fire International Reggae Festival which will be held in Mzansi on 9 March.

The legends, whose real names are Delyno "Pressure Busspipe" Brown (42) and Kennedy DYNAMQ Ongele Lorya, are set to perform at the Soweto Theatre.

The Catch A Fire International Reggae Festival will mark the two icons' very first performances in Southern Africa.

The reggae legends will be joining the 30-year celebration of Mzansi’s freedom and significant contribution of reggae-dancehall to the country’s freedom.

Event organiser Fikile Makhalemele said people should expect an electrifying musical experience.

“We are thrilled to bring together these two reggae-dancehall powerhouses for a truly electrifying musical experience. Their unique blend of high-energy performance and soulful lyrics are sure to ignite passion in reggae-dancehall fans,” Fikile said.

Pressure Busspipe is known for his hit songs such as Love and Affection and Virgin Islands Nice, and his decades-long career has cemented his reputation as one of reggae’s most influential artists.

DYNAMQ, who is known for fusing reggae with African beats, is set to bring his award-winning sound to thrill the crowds.

Fikile said this unmissable festival is the perfect opportunity for reggae-dancehall enthusiasts to sway and groove to the pulsing rhythms.

“The festival transcends boundaries, celebrates diversity, and serves as a catalyst for the growth of South Africa and Africa’s reggae music culture. Catch A Fire International Reggae Festival isn’t just a stage, it’s a platform for South African reggae artists to position themselves globally,” he said.

Fikile said the festival provides the much-needed space for reggae music to thrive, fostering an environment where artists can earn a living while celebrating the unique influence and role of reggae in South African communities and history.
