THE Mahikeng-born music superstar, Refiloe “Cassper Nyovest” Phoolo, turned his home town into a hive of entertainment last night, 3 December.
He took his audiences, who filled Mmabatho Stadium in North West almost to the rafters, on a musical odyssey during the #FillUp event.
Cassper also thanked everyone who attended the event and sent his homages to all artists like Makhadzi and others, who gave the performance of their lives last night.

“Thank you to everyone who made it to the #FillUp event. Thank you to those who bought tickets and attended this massive event. I really appreciate it and would always love you. This is part of creating memories and emotional connection,” he said.
Motswako rapper, Khulane “Khuli Chana” Morule, lauded Cassper for organising the event.
“This is a show-stopper and big up to Cassper for delivering more than a night of entertainment. We’re proud products of Mahikeng and seeing it alive again is breathtaking. This is a big thing for Motswako groups and artists like Morafe because everything started in the streets of Mahikeng. So, bringing the world back home is amazing. Bringing this event home has boosted the economy and lightened Mahikeng up again,” he said.
Another Motswako rapper turned farmer, Motlapele Morule, who is affectionately known as Mo Molemi shared the same sentiments. He said the #FillUp event has boosted the economy of Mahikeng because many guest houses and hotels were almost full.
“This includes various restaurants because people buy food. You know Mahikeng has always been a party spot, so we are happy to see it alive again. Big up to Cassper for bringing that culture back.
“He has captured the moment and given a tribute to Mahikeng. As Motswako artists, we need to sit down and come up with a strategy to resuscitate the culture again. We have an abundance of talent and I am also hungry for the next Motswako superstar,” he said.

Meanwhile, North West MEC for Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation (ACSR), Kenetswe Mosenogi said: “We are happy with the turnout as the province. At last, since the Covid-19 pandemic, our economy is going to be boosted. We have people travelling from various provinces like Gauteng, Limpopo, and Free State. This includes others from our neighbouring country, Botswana.
“This is also a great move for up-and-coming artists. They will be inspired by what Cassper is doing and we are happy that he is tagging them along. This will advance and expose them to various stages, which will boost their careers.”
