CASSPER Nyovest has denied allegations that the Mmabatho Stadium is on the brink of collapse.

The rapper is preparing to host his much-anticipated #FillUpMmabathoStadium event at the stadium in Mahikeng, North West on 3 December.

Cassper, whose real name is Refiloe Phoolo, said he appointed two structural engineers and their report said the stadium was usable but not to its full capacity.

“Every #FillUp is created according to the audience. Local artists like Motlapele ‘Mo Molemi’ Morule and others will benefit from this.

“We also have a campaign that we are running to check which local artists people love and support. This event will benefit 18 up-and-coming artists. We will have superstars like Makhadzi and a surprise act.”

Cassper said safety was his priority and they would only use 30% of the stands. He encouraged those who had not yet bought tickets to do so soon to avoid disappointment.

“We are going to have a great show, even though this might have been the hardest #FillUp to organise,” he said.

“My people know every song but I won’t play all of them. Even though there are many politics surrounding this event, we are most definitely sure it will be a success.”

Meanwhile, Thabo Mabe, the chief director of the provincial arts and culture department, said the stadium had been undergoing renovations but it was safe to use.

“When #FillUp management hired structural engineers and gave us a positive report, we were satisfied,” he said.

“This event is quite important and is one of the economic drivers. Vendors and guest houses are almost full in Mahikeng, so there’s a huge economic spin-off. This is an event for up-and-coming artists too because they’ll be given a chance to showcase their talent.”
