MTUTU Ntsodo says the late veteran actor, Chris "Bra Spokes" April treated him like his son.
The 69-year-old madala from Crossroads, Western Cape was a close friend to Bra Spokes.
Mtutu believes that when thieves broke into Bra Spokes’ house, he had forgotten to lock the doors while waiting for him to arrive.
“I used to call him tata Maduna, not Bra Spokes, like what everyone called him. We were very close. He was like a father to me. Some people thought he was my father because of how close we were. I suspect those boys entered his house after he forgot to lock since he thought I was going to visit him. He wouldn't go to bed before I visited his house,” said Mtutu.
He said his relationship with the late veteran actor was deep and his death left a huge vacuum in his life.

“If I were to go to the Eastern Cape without telling him, he wouldn’t take that lightly. So, I would tell him every plan I had with my life. If I was on a journey, he'd call me after every hour checking where I was and also telling me drive safely,” said Mtutu.
He said at one point he was arrested in the Malmesbury area over a reckless driving incident and Bra Spokes accompanied him to attend the court case.
He said when he arrived, both the magistrate and the prosecutor recognised Bra Spokes.
“They asked him what he was doing in court. He told them that he was attending the reckless driving case of his son,” he said.
Mtutu said he was arrested again and appeared in Hermanus Magistrates Court where Bra Spokes attended the court case again.
“This time around he nearly moered me in front of the magistrate. The magistrate is the one who stopped him. Again, they recognised him, and he had told them that I was his son. He was always there for me, and I will forever be grateful,” he said.
According to family spokesman Johnson Puza, the veteran actor was attacked while he was asleep inside his house on 6 February.
Bra Spokes later died on Sunday, 31 March due to the injuries he suffered during the attack. He was 83 years old at the time of his death.
