MZANSI’S boxing legend Thulani Malinga has landed a cameo role on Uzalo.

Known as Sugarboy, the 66-year-old from Ladysmith, KZN, is said to be acting alongside Masoja Msiza, who plays the role of Nkunzi. It is alleged that he shot his scenes two weeks ago.

Insiders said Thulani was training Nkunzi for boxing.

“He was definitely shooting his scenes two weeks ago. We were all excited to see him as Mzansi’s icon in boxing,” said one source.

Another source said the news were kept under the carpet by producers of the show.

“The aim of bringing this legend is to gain a boxing audience to increase the number of viewers. But producers want his appearance to be a surprise. For now, we have all been instructed to keep this a secret.”

It is also alleged that the character of Sibonelo, played by Wiseman Mncube, is making a return.

When contacted, Thulani said that he was not allowed to reveal anything to the public.

“I don’t know, but there’s a show that I will act on. It’s just that I’m not allowed to reveal the name and anything about it,” he said.

Wiseman said he never left Uzalo, and viewers would know when he came back from his break.

Uzalo publicist Nomfundo Zondi said the show was aimed at entertaining fans, who would be informed in due course if there were changes.
