He took to Twitter on Saturday and wrote: “A group of ladies just told the waiter to bring their bill of R3394 to me and I must pay. Why would I pay for drinks ordered by people I don’t even know??? Tf have people become?”

In a follow-up tweet, he wrote: “Shame, the one girl came and apologised afterwards. Wasn’t enough to change my mind though. I didn’t pay!”

His supporters said this was becoming a common practice. They also shared their own personal experiences.

Luzuko Mpohla wrote: “Also paid a bill not so long ago. Lady literally came to join us and a group of friends. Out of courtesy I asked what she wants and she ordered her drink then suddenly indicates to the waiter to bring her bill since she’s changed to our table. Literally passed to me.”

Tira TM commented: “Men started this by offering to pay bills of women they don’t even know. Now it’s out of control, with some women thinking they can get any man to do this. And it’s mostly pretty girls. Shame.”

Natacia Mokoka said: “Yoh sorry for that Mo. It really happens a lot these days. I was in a job interview with some guy in a restaurant. The mistake the guy made was to greet some girls not so far from us. When they stood up they left him with the bill. And the restaurant was posh like I was even scared to order.”
