GQOM musician and reality TV star Babes Wodumo has opened up about people commenting on her weight.
Babes Wodumo, whose real name is Bongekile Simelane, commented on Vuma FM presenter Jacinta Ngobese’s Facebook post where she said people have been making fun of her weight loss, accusing her of being on drugs.
She said her weight loss is due to the fact that she has just had a baby.
Babes Wodumo has been trending on social media after a picture of her and Ukhozi FM’s Dudu Khoza was circulated.
Jacinta opened up about losing weight when she was eight months pregnant and said she understands what Babes Wodumo is going through.
She said the people making fun of Babes Wodumo don’t know how difficult being a new mum is.
“So, people are making fun of Babes because they don’t know how difficult being a mother is and how much of yourself you lose during that time.
“All you need is to be surrounded with love and kindness and people who care about you so that you can at least have beautiful memories of that time,” wrote Jacinta.
“I’m actually crying as I type this because we all go through so much. Sometimes all you need is to be okay, happy and surrounded with love.

“Please don’t make fun of someone else’s situation just because you don’t understand it or you haven’t got there yet. I wish Babes all the love and prosperity in the world,” she continued.
Babes Wodumo thanked her for the post and said she is glad someone understands her situation.
She said she lost weight during her pregnancy and after she gave birth, hence she looks small.
She explained that the people’s comments hurt her.
“I’m happy someone finally understands my journey. It was the same as you, I lost weight during my pregnancy. After giving birth, I lost more.
“It hurts to see women making fun of my weight. I don’t know if they want me to hate the baby I brought into the world, because I don’t understand what’s so different with me.
“Is it because I’m a celeb or is it because I’m a young woman who is just finding her feet,” wrote Babes.
She said people are judging her and even accusing her of using drugs, but that’s not the case.
“Some are quick to judge. They say I am sick, I need help or I’m taking drugs.
“I got a baby and my body is still recovering. My weight loss doesn’t scare me,” she wrote.
She said she is not stressing about the comments.
“I’m not stressing. I make sure that I go to work regardless of what people think. I work for my child and my family,” she wrote.
Her husband Mampintsha went through the same scrutiny when he lost weight in 2019.
