SOUTH African artists will march for better opportunities on Friday, 25 August.
On Wednesday, 22 August, the Cultural And Creative Industry Federation of South Africa (CCIFSA) held an artists' briefing at Niki's Oasis Jazz Restaurant in Joburg.
The CCIFSA Joburg region held a briefing regarding their upcoming protest march against the Copyright Amendment Bill, including royalties and rights.
The main purpose of this briefing was to share their grievances and concerns for opposing certain clauses within the bill, particularly the "fair use" clause.
Stars such as Arthur Mafokate, Ntsiki Mazwai, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Sbongile Mngoma, Leethabo Tebogo Sithathu, and Mzwakhe Mbuli were part of the movement.
Arthur told Daily Sun that they will ensure that artists don't die without getting what belongs to them.
The 54-year-old kwaito legend said they will fight for what belongs to them.

"We want change for our people. We are not going to back down as musicians and performers," he said.
Mzwakhe Mbuli (64) said they do so much as artists but die with nothing.
Owen Ndlovu said on Friday it's going down.
"Our music is played on the airwaves, but we die with nothing. Where are we heading? We are not appreciated a lot as artists. Artists in South Africa deserve better," he said.
Mzwakhe said they are tired of being used and betrayed by the government.
"On Friday, we are ending this abuse that we are facing as artists. You guys in the media are powerful, and you can make and break us," he said.
He said they will show the country who they are this Friday, 25 August.
Ntsiki (42) said they are robbed and feel like they are not heard enough.
She said they live in fear because, as women, including artists, they are not protected by any law.
CCCIFSA Gauteng chairperson Thobela Dlamini said the march will start at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown and head to the Gauteng legislature.
