LEGENDARY actor Mfana Jones Hlophe does not feel the freedom and democracy in Mzansi.
Mfana wants the government to do more to make people feel that they live in a democratic country.
The actor, who has appeared on many top TV productions including Uzalo, Imbewu: The Seed and many more, has written his own two-man theatre show called Fish Out of H20.
In it, he tackles the challenges of democracy in Mzansi. His play will be performed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape from 22 June to 2 July 2023.
The 52-year-old actor from Umlazi told Daily Sun that he was motivated to write the play because the many challenges engulfing Mzansi.
"I do not see myself being free in this country where there are still places where black people are abused by some white people.
"It feels like we are a fish out of water, and fish can not live without water," he said.
The play deals with the challenges of democracy and there are many things that need to be changed," he said.

Mfana said he wants his play to get the people of Mzansi to debate whether or not they really have democracy in their country.
"The way democracy works in South Africa is confusing because in other countries it's like the government just provides two rooms but in democracy, we have to achieve many things.
"We understand that everyone makes mistakes, and now we just have to give the current government five years to correct their mistakes, we depose them and let the youth take over the government," he said.
Mfana said that he started writing his play during the Covid-19 Lockdown and it features Vukani Dlamini.
"We have also finished shooting my new film titled The Hat, which will be released soon," he said.
