THREE years since the death of chef and socialite Anele Tembe, her dad, Durban businessman Moses Tembe, is desperately pushing for an inquest case to get justice and closure for his daughter.
Anele, who was the fiancée of the late rapper Kiernan "AKA" Forbes, died in April 2021. She allegedly fell to death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town when she was with AKA.
Many people accused AKA of having something to do with her death.
Tembe said he objects to anyone saying AKA killed his daughter. However, he said he needs to be led by evidence to tell the family what exactly happened.
After Anele's death, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) decided not to prosecute anyone. An inquest case is expected to be heard since 2023.
Tembe said the family, wanted AKA to tell his side of the story, adding that it would have been difficult to see him in the dock "as a witness or as the accused".
“At the time, we had not received much background, but from what we have as fact, she was actually recognised or found by some other ladies in the street unattended to," he said.
“One got a sense that there could be some foul play, but one was not there. This matter is a subject of an inquest. I truly believe the process must be respected. It'd be amiss of me to get into details of the inquest.”

Tembe said the family was not judging anyone for Anele’s death. They were looking forward to a prosecution and closure, he said.
The businessman said in the room from which Anele is alleged to have fallen, she was with someone. He said the police never told the Tembes who was going to be prosecute.
“She was in the company of Kiernan, true. Nothing follows that Kiernan was going to be prosecuted or that he was guilty of anything. We want the person who was with our daughter to be prosecuted,” he said.
Tembe said AKA was not just Anele's boyfriend but a fiancé. He approached the Tembes, wanted to marry their daughter, and they accepted him as a son.
“I loved Kiernan, despite what people said about him later on. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. To that point, as the family, particularly myself as head of the family, I kept saying after whatever was happening, we must treat Kiernan as our child.
“I object to anyone saying Kiernan killed our daughter. We need to be led by evidence. Evidence will tell us exactly what happened,” he said.
