AMAPIANO took over Portugal in a big way over the past weekend and left the country excited.

Musicians such as Uncle Waffles, Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Kamo Mphela, DBN Gogo, Focalistic, Major League DJz, and Young Stunna were on the line-up for Afro Nation – a music festival in Portugal.

People couldn’t stop talking about them on social media.

Afro Nation is an annual three-day festival, and it’s the biggest Afro beats festival in the world.

It had three stages this year and for the first time, Mzansi singers had their own stage – the amapiano stage.

The stage was full of an audience from the beginning to the end of the festival.

The musicians posted videos of themselves performing at the festival and they had happy crowds.

Drip founder, Lekau Sehoana, was also at the festival and said DJ Maphorisa and Kamo Mphela killed their performances.

“Phori killing Afro Nation ... Just before him, Kamo Mphela shut it down. Super beautiful to see ... Mzansi in Portugal, amapiano stage,” he wrote.

Damsel in Destreets wrote: “Yho, I’m so happy for the South African amapiano artists at Afro Nation. Love this so much for them.”

Siebs said they remembered when gqom was played at the festival in 2019, and the crowd did not enjoy it.

“I remember when they played gqom at Afro Nation 2019 and the crowd was soooo quiet.

“Now they got a whole amapiano stage and it looks packed. That’s so sick,” he wrote.

Pastor D wrote: “Afro Nation is incredible vibes man, again these South Africans and amapiano? Fantastic work.”

Zeus Omega said the amapiano stage at the festival was filled with talent.

“The amapiano stage at @afronation had such dope talent, production was clean, every artist was on time and gave their all. The South African acts represented us so well. Extremely proud of the gang,” he wrote.
