DJ AND record producer Mr JazziQ believes that one must know what they are doing and love what they do to survive the music industry.
The 27-year-old Catalia hitmaker from Alexandra in Joburg, whose real name is Tumelo Manyoni, said the music industry has its ups and downs, but passion can get one going.
“It needs to be something that comes from your heart. Something that you live with and live in. The process behind it is way easier because it’s not like you are fighting for the number one spot,” he said.
Mr JazziQ said that he has faced many challenges in the industry, but he doesn’t take them as challenges.
“I see them as doing things differently. You would find that something is a challenge to one person, and to you, it was a learning curve,” he said.
The producer said there are many things they go through as artists on a daily basis.

“You go through situations where you get to a gig, and the stuff you asked for is not there. I'm a very easy-going guy. I don’t find myself having to deal with situations where now I have to say to promoters that I won't play because my rider is not there,” he said.
Mr JazziQ said that his new EP All You Need Is Piano II is inspired by horror movies he used to watch growing up.
“It was based around going for a different sound of amapiano but a much darker side of amapiano because of the period we are in. That’s why we centered it around Halloween,” he said.
He said the album has elements of scary sounds in it.
“There are elements you would find in a scary movie,” he said.
JazziQ said he grew up watching scary movies, and Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th was his favourite character.
