DJ MAPHORISA appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 26 July, for submission of representation to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The case was postponed to 25 August, awaiting a decision from the DPP.

The musician, whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowecame, arrived in court wearing shades, a black top and jeans.

He came with his legal team, hiding him from the cameras outside court.

In June, prosecutor Clarance Makhubela said they postponed the DJ's matter as he had to submit his legal representation to the DPP.

The 31-year-old musician was arrested on 7 May after a case of common assault was reported at the Sandton Police Station, north of Joburg.

DJ Maphorisa allegedly assaulted his then girlfriend, Thuli "Thuli P" Phongolo.

After his court appearance, the DJ rushed to his car.

The musician was granted a bail of R4 000, and Thuli P dropped the charges against him in May.
