NEW amapiano duo UDJ Thobs and Punky SA believe that two heads are better than one.

The two DJs came together to form their duo in 2022, adding that besides singing together, they have since become friends.

Both Banele "UDJ Thobs" Mthembeni and Nothando "Punky SA" Nhlengethwa hail from Newcastle, KZN.

The two have released their debut six-track EP, titled Iza Mawala.

They said their EP is about their good friendship and good music which has been well received in the industry.

UDJ Thobs told Daily Sun that he started being a DJ in 2014 but in 2022 he realised that two heads are better than one.

“It was funny because when I was about to start a duo, I just asked the locals who I should work with.

“Many people pointed me to Punky SA, and I started working with her. Fortunately, we took our working relationship to another level and turned it into a friendship,” he said.

The 24-year-old DJ, who is also a music producer, said it has been easy to work with Punky SA.

“What made our work easier is that in 2020 I started producing music and now I work as a DJ and producer.

“At the moment we are pushing our EP and introducing ourselves as a duo by performing in many places and later we will release an album,” he said.

UDJ Thobs said their music is a mix of amapiano and house, but they are versatile to do other genres.
